Area man Dick Froese made headlines throughout Leamington this week after he became the first Mennonite man ever to publicly express love for his own wife.
“When we got married 40 years ago, I told her that I loved her,” said Froese. “And I always said if I changed my mind, I’d let her know.”
It seems Froese has not changed his mind, because just this week he replied, “yeah, me too” after being kissed on the forehead and told “I love you” by his wife Tina.
“I had tears in my eyes after that,” said Tina. “Oh, Dick, you’re so romantic. You love me! You really love me!”
Dick said that, of course, he loved her, but that doesn’t mean he needs to be saying it all the time.
“She should have known it from all the dead flowers I get her from the MCC,” said Froese. “Not to mention all those romantic dates to A&W.”
Thankfully, Dick’s confession of love was caught on video and Tina plans to watch it over and over again every night before bed.
“I kind of wish I never said it,” said Dick. “My buddies at the coffee shop are never going to let me live it down.”
His newfound ability to express his emotions means that Dick just might get up the courage to tell his kids he loves them, too, but sources says they already know he does, even though he doesn’t say it.
