KITCHENER, ON
Area man Garth Eby, 39, has just begun a yearlong project to dissemble every stitch of furniture in his house and replace all the screws with Robertsons.
“I’m starting with the kitchen cabinets, actually,” said Eby. “And as an added bonus, I’m using the old Robertson screwdriver I got at Husky back in 1987.”
Eby intends to remove every vile American screw by hand and replace each one with a proper Canadian screw.
“My wife is on board with the project, too,” said Eby. “To be honest, she’s been complaining about the quality of screws in this house for a long time.”
When it’s all said and done, Eby estimates he will have replaced more than 75,000 screws in his Kitchener-area home.
“Plus the furniture will hold together much better I hear,” said Eby. “Nothing warms the cockles of my Canadian heart more than the sight of a Robertson screw.”
Eby’s plans quickly unravelled, however, when he realized every item in the house had been purchased at Ikea.
