ST. JACOB’S, ON
Facing uncertain economic times and threats from the US, Ontario Premier Doug Ford, in a show of strength and solidarity, shut off power to a whole bunch of people who weren’t actually using it.
“First it’ll be the Amish, then it’s the state of Michigan,” said Ford. “You gotta start somewhere, amirite?”
The outage didn’t seem to make much of a difference in Woolwich Township, however.
“If shutting off the power won’t do it,” said Ford, “I guess it’s time to slap on that 25% surcharge.”
Ford’s chief economic advisors have been working overtime to figure out what’s 25% of nothing. Meanwhile, the Amish community hardly noticed, which is exactly the reaction expected from neighbouring states.
