Electrician Busy Explaining to Concerned Mennonites what ‘AC/DC’ Really Means

STEINBACH, MB

Local retired electrician Timothy Reimer, 88, had quite the busy evening as AC/DC cover band Hell’s Bells took the stage at Steinbach’s Summer in the City festival.

“All these concerned Mennonites were standing on Main Street with protest signs. They even started hauling out VHS tapes from their youth group days in the 1980s,” said Reimer. “I thought we were all done with that Satanic Panic era. Apparently not.”

Reimer politely explained to the picketers outside the concert that the word AC/DC has nothing whatsoever to do with the Anti-Christ.

“It means Alternating Current/Direct Current,” said Reimer. “Ugh, well, you know, there’s a reason it look us so long to get the Mennonites to sign up for the rural electrification program in the 50s.”

While the AC/DC explanation seemed simple enough, Reimer admits he had some difficulty explaining away the song “Highway to Hell.”

“I’ve got my work cut out for me on that one,” said Reimer. “Wish me luck.”

The crowd of seemingly angry Mennonites standing outside the concert gates later admitted they were not actually protesting and were just trying to hear the concert for free.
