WINNIPEG, MB
An empty net from Winnipeg, Manitoba will forever be in the NHL record books after being scored on by Alexander Ovechkin, who moves to number 2 all time.
“I have to admit that at first I found it a little embarrassing,” said M.T. Net of North Kildonan. “But, you know, 40, 50 years from now when people look back at this moment, it’ll be nice to see my name in the history books.”
M.T. Net has made history alongside the pitcher who gave up Hank Aaron’s record-breaking home run, or any of the guys who lost to Muhammad Ali in a title fight.
“Yeah, you know, it’s nice to have my name spoken in the same sentence as a superstar like Ovechkin,” said M.T. Net. “I may not have the best Goals Against Average, but at least all the biggest stars have scored on me.”
Ovechkin is apparently really proud to have set the record against an NHL legend like M.T. Net.
