Local Woman Completely Hooked on The Mennodalorian

WINKLER, MB

At offices across Winkler, the latest episode of The Mennodalorian is always the hottest topic around the socially-distanced water cooler every week. One Winkler couple has taken things a little too far.

“I’ve watched through the whole series six times already since the pandemic started,” said Mrs. Froese. “At first the Plautdietsch took some getting used to, since they all speak with Jantsied accent, but eventually we figured it out. It helps that there are subtitles.”

The show is a spin-off of the popular Plautz Wars series of films that originated in the 1970s.

“The first Plautz Wars is really my favourite. I think they kind of ruined it when they introduced that annoying Jar Jar Dueck character,” said Mrs. Froese. “The Mennodalorian is a return to form though. They squeeze so much pacifism into every episode.”

Mrs. Froese has even convinced her husband Earl to watch a few episodes.

“He snuggles up next to me on the couch and we pray and watch The Mennodalorian together. We think of it like doing our devotions,” said Mrs. Froese. “The only exception is when the hockey game is on; then Earl is preoccupied swearing in Low German at the TV.”

Mrs. Froese was the first one in her circle to know Baby Yoder’s name but she’s not telling anyone for fear of being shunned.
