Mennonite Man Desperately Hoping He Can Make it to Deacons Corner

DEACONS CORNER, MB

Area man Steve Froese, 41, was at a Fringe Fest performance by The Naked Mennonite this afternoon, when he realized he didn’t have enough gas to make it all the way back to Kleefeld.

“I pulled over and prayed that I’d make it to Deacons Corner,” said Froese. “Diewel, I was really running on fumes there for a while.”

Over the years, the gas station at Deacons Corner has saved many a lowly Mennonite on their voyage to the city.

“I don’t know what I’d do without it,” said Froese. “Stop for gas in the city? I don’t think so.”

Froese managed to put $15 worth of gas in his tank, which he was confident would get him all the way to Kleefeld.

“Oh and I also stopped for a teen burger,” said Froese. “One can never be too cautious.”

Froese says he doesn’t want to repeat his disastrous trip to the city years ago, when he had to flag down a couple dudes in trucks to push him over to the gas station at Deacons Corner in the fall of 1998.
