Mennonite Man Tries to Pass Off Farmer Sausage as Kubasa

WINNIPEG, MB

Jake Reimer’s attempt at serving his guests “kubasa” this weekend utterly failed after he figured he could toss a clove of garlic in with the farmer sausage and fool everyone.

“He thought a bit of mustard and a thin slice could mask it, but who is that man kidding?” said dinner guest Anne. “Next thing you know he’ll be trying to pass off vereniki as perogies!”

Reimer apologizes for the mishap, but says “sausage is sausage.”

“That just shows how little those Mennonites know about sausage, if he thinks that,” said Anne. “I wish he’d just stick to cracking his sunflower seeds and leave the butchering and cooking to us.”

Reimer was reportedly fired from the planning committee for the upcoming fall supper, but says he’ll show up at the event anyway.

“I’m a hungry man. What can I say?” said Reimer. “Man does not live by sausage alone.”

Reimer says he promises he’ll never attempt such a thing again with “kubasa,” but makes no promises he won’t try to pass off farmer sausage as “kielbasa.”
