Mennonite Man Wakes Up Bright and Early to Get in a Full Day of Quality Puttering

NEW BOTHWELL, MB

Retired cheesemaker Earl Froese, 71, got up bright and early this morning, not wanting to waste a single moment.

“I’ve got a full day ahead of me,” said Froese. “There’s a lot of important puttering that needs to get done.”

According to Froese, he has several make-work projects on the go, which include sorting his miscellaneous nuts and bolts collection, putting up next year’s Christmas lights, and unnecessarily hosing down the driveway every other day.

“You know, since I retired last fall, I’ve never been more busy in my life,” said Froese. “I mean, you should see the long list of puttering that Tina gave me.”

Froese says his puttering plans are even starting to interfere with his social life.

“Bob and Darryl and expecting me at the cafe in the gas station by 8 am,” said Froese. “but I’ve got so much puttering on my agenda, I might not even have time for breakfast today.”

Froese says he’s so committed to puttering that he plans to purchase a whole bunch of tools he doesn’t need, just so he reason to put up new shelves in the garage.
