Mennonites Excited for New ‘Nut Kroeker’ Ballet

WINNIPEG, MB

After centuries of strict opposition to dancing of any sort, a new radical sect of Mennonites is set to perform the world’s first Anabaptist ballet – the Nut Kroeker.

“It will surely become a holiday classic,” said area woman Sarah Derksen. “I’ve been clandestinely enjoying ballet for years and I’ll finally be able to be out in the open about it.”

The story is a tale as old as time, featuring a Mr. Kroeker who has the reputation of being a bit of a nut.

“You don’t want to get into a conversation with Nut Kroeker, that’s for sure,” explained Derksen. “You should see how they’ve choreographed the dance to avoid him in the church lobby.”

The score was written by renowned MB choir director Peter Ilych Sawatzky.

“The music and dancing just work so well together,” said Derksen. “It’s hard to believe a Mennonite had something to do with it.”

Tickets for the Nut Kroeker start at $60.60 plus a nominal $200 Ticketmaster convenience charge.
