Mennonites Finally Have their Own Section at the Bookstore

WINNIPEG, MB

A prominent sign has been installed at Winnipeg’s favourite bookstore McNally Robinson that points costumers to the bargain section.

“Finally a section for us Mennonites,” said book lover Erin Neufeld. “Got to get my hands on those discounted books with the black marker on the top!”

Neufeld discovered the section while she was attending the launch of katherena vermette’s new novel Real Ones.

“The book signing line was so long, but it was worth it,” said Neufeld. “Plus since I was way in the back of the line, I had plenty of time to discover a whole new section of the store.”

Neufeld says she took home a signed copy of Real Ones, for which she paid full price, obviously, plus about a dozen books from the discount section in the back.

“I’m going to be reading a lot of bargain books in the coming days,” said Neufeld. “I can’t think of any other way I’d rather spend Mennonite Heritage Week.”

Neufeld said she loves the new Mennonite section of the store, but others say if she was a “real Mennonite” she’d wait until the books showed up at the MCC.
