New “I’d Like to Buy the World a Papsi” Ad Targets Mennonites

HARRISON, NY

Papsi sales have gone through the roof this week after the airing of a brand new ad featuring Mennonites from across the globe standing on a hill-top singing “I’d like to buy the world a Papsi.”

“It gave me chills,” said Mrs. Koop of Filadelphia, Paraguay. “I know the song is not in the hymn book, but I just couldn’t help myself from singing along.”

The new song depicts Mennonites with thick Plautdietsch accents holding hands and singing, “I’d like to buy the world a home and furnish it with zoat. I’d like to teach the world to sing and not forget a note. I’d like to buy the world a Papsi and a nice warm winter quilt. I’d like to wake up Sunday morn’ and spread a little guilt.”

“I was so happy to see all those Mennonites from all over knacking their zoat and drinking their Papsis,” said Mrs. Koop. “It was truly heartwarming.”

The advertising agency responsible for the new commercial has been praised for their brilliant and highly-effective strategy of targeting Mennonites using techniques that are fifty years out-of-date.
