Pierre Poilievre to Reintroduce Carbon Tax Just So He Has Something to Scrap

OTTAWA, ON

With a federal election on the horizon, Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre is looking to bring back the unpopular carbon tax just so he can make a very dramatic display of scrapping it.

“It’s been my entire identity for about 7 years,” said Poilievre. “Quite frankly, I wish Carney would bring it back before the election, so I’d have something to attack.”

Poilievre has seen his polling numbers drop substantially in recent weeks and is hoping to rekindle the “scrap the tax” wave.

“I mean, if they’d up the GST by 2 percent, that might also give me something to cling to,” said Poilievre. “Got to rally the troops somehow, amirit?”

Despite a substantial lead in fundraising, Poilievre is concerned the money might slow to a trickle now that the sale of “F—- Trudeau” flags has all dried up.
