Progressives Find Themselves in Awkward Position of Having to Say Nice Things About a Banker

OTTAWA, ON

It came out of nowhere, but left-leaning liberals and progressives across Canada are suddenly huge fans of bankers. Banker-mania is sweeping the nation, some even going so far as sporting Mark Carney-inspired haircuts.

“I don’t know what’s come over me,” said avowed leftist Andy Kroeker. “I usually prefer someone who’s spent their lives looking out for the little guy, but now it’s all Goldman Sachs for me.”

Kroeker said he’d normally be repulsed by a man who’d spent his career in high finance, but on second thought, he now believes Carney’s resume to be very impressive.

“Bank of Canada, Bank of England, I mean what bank hasn’t this man worked for?” said Kroeker. “Usually I’d vote for an activist or someone who worked for a non-profit or something, but lately I’ve been thinking of going the complete opposite direction.”

Meanwhile conservative voters in Canada are finding themselves in the equally awkward positive of having to support a guy who’s never worked a day at a real job in his life.
