KOLA, MB
A separatist movement had emerged in Western Manitoba, with many folks in that part of the province being Riders fans for some reason.
“Well, yeah, you know, we basically live in Saskatchewan already,” said Kola resident Diane Fehr. “We’re closer to Regina than we are to Winnipeg.”
The borderland Riders fans held a vote this week to separate from Manitoba and join Saskatchewan.
“It’ll mean inferior farmer sausage and no hockey team, but it’ll be worth it,” said Fehr. “I’m surprised we didn’t join Saskatchewan sooner.”
The new territory extends several miles into Manitoba, but not as far as Brandon.
“Brandon is a mixed bag,” said local resident Ashley Klassen. “We even have some mixed families of Bombers and Riders fans.”
Meanwhile, Calgary Stampeders fans in Western Saskatchewan have voted to join Alberta.
