OTTAWA, ON
The once mighty Team Canada junior hockey team has lost to a men’s floor hockey team from Blumenort, Manitoba.
“It’s hard to top Garth Reimer on the forecheck,” said Team Canada captain Brayden Yager. “I mean those Blumenort farm boys were pretty hard to catch as they clomped up and down in the ice in the Sorels and sweat pants.”
The Blumenort Menno Knights, as they are known, had never before defeated any team at the World Juniors, least of all Team Canada, but Reimer says they’ve been working hard towards this goal.
“We rented out the church gymnasium for months,” said Reimer. “All we had to do was set up the tables for faspas and funerals and we they let us have our practices in there for free yet.”
Canadians were shocked at such an abysmal performance by their national junior team, but Reimer says he’s not surprised at all.
“You know, it’s like they always say, “said Reimer. “Never understatement a team with EM Cup experience.”
