Unworn James Reimer ‘Pride’ Jersey Turned into Lovely Mennonite Quilt

FRESNO, CA

The quilting club at the Fresno First and Last Mennonite Church received an anonymous donation of fabric this past week, which they immediately set out to fashioning into a wonderful new quilt.

“I think it was a donation from Mrs. Reimer. Her name was on it, anyway and I do know that she’s always got the best fabrics,” said Mrs. Ens. “It had the word “love,” plus a rainbow and a shark, so I’m guessing it had something to do with Noah’s Ark.”

When completed, the new Noah’s Ark-themed quilt will be prominently displayed in the church nursery.

“We’re not done yet,” said Mrs. Ens. “We have many more hours to put into this project, but when we’re done, the children of Fresno First and Last Mennonite are really going to love it!”

Thankfully, being a goalie jersey, the quilting club had a lot of extra material to work with.

“I just hope someone donates some colourful penguin or coyote-themed fabric so we can put the finishes touches on our Noah’s Ark quilt,” said Mrs. Ens. “Even a panther or kraken will do. Those were on the Ark, right?”

The new quilt will be displayed at the church for a period of 6 months before it’s auctioned off to some company that will turn it into limited edition hockey cards.
