LA CRETE, AB
The Walls of way up in La Crete, Alberta attended a special ceremony in New York City this week as a prominent street in lower Manhattan was named in their honour.
“Greetings to the Wall family,” said mayor Eric Adams, unveiling the sign with panache. “We are honoured that such an illustrious family could finally join us here in the great city of New York.”
Crowds gathered to take photos with the Wall family, but it was all a little much for father Todd.
“I’m a plumber and I’m not used to this kind of attention,” said Mr. Wall. “The kids are taking it in stride, but we’ll be leaving back home for northern Alberta on the next train out of town.”
There was so much pomp and circumstance over the sign, that Mr. Wall offered a modification.
“Maybe they can rename it after Brad Wall or his son Colter,” said Mr. Wall. “But, honestly, this is too much for a humble La Crete boy like me.”
The Wall family were also invited to attend a taping of Saturday Night Live, but stormed out in protest at the last minute.
