Winnipeg’s Biggest Bach Fan Now Totally Baroque

WINNIPEG, MB

Middle school music teacher Anne Martens has gone totally baroque this week attending concerts all over the city.

“My mother always warned me this would happen if I didn’t watch out,” said Martens. “I’ve been to so many Bach and Vivaldi performances that now I’m totally baroque.”

The festival’s ticket prices are very reasonable, but oddly enough that has not prevented Martens from going baroque.

“We’re normally a frugal bunch, but this festival features a heck of a lot of baroque Mennonites,” said Martens. “Just look at the list – there’s a baroque Froese, a baroque Hildebrand, a baroque Stobbe. Even a couple baroque Friesens.”

Martens is also concerned for the future of the CMU Festival Chorus, which is also now completely baroque.
